“A major Civil Rights activist, Gloria Richardson led the early 1960s Cambridge Movement, which fought to desegregate schools, hospitals, and other public institutions in her hometown of Cambridge, Maryland. Richardson was recognized for her work at the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom; however, like the other women honored, she was not permitted to address the crowd.”
